Backwards or Forwards? Why did Birmingham City Council U-Turn over Community ‘Big Society’ Sports Project?

Birmingham City Council prides itself on being progressive, hence the tag-line ‘Forward’. Its recent policies include Birmingham’s Big Society Prospectus and Sports Strategies including a new model of Community Sports Hub, yet earlier this year the Council appeared to have back-tracked on its good intentions of Community Asset Transfer of Holders Lane Playing Fields to a Grass-Roots Sports Group.
